Birds of a Feather star Pauline Quirke MBE's son will be taking on an 87 mile long walk to raise money for Alzheimer's Research UK.

Charlie says that the Essex location of Chigwell is a "poignant place to start", as the set of show.

He will set off on the 8th of December, for five days, retracing his mum's steps visiting significant places in her life.

The challenge, called 'Charlie Quirke's Trek For A Cure', will see him aiming to raise "much-needed" funds and awareness for Alzheimer's Research UK.

Charlie said that Alzheimer's Research UK is the "perfect avenue" for helping dementia research.

"We like to think that every step I take physically is sort of metaphorically a step closer to finding the cure.

"The training has been interesting, considering I fractured my leg in August.

"We're starting in Victory Hall in Chigwell. Chigwell was obviously the iconic home, where Birds of a Feather was set, my mum's hit TV show.

"It just seemed like a great place to start. I'll be spanning across five counties. Essex to London, to Surrey, to Berkshire, and to Buckinghamshire.

"I think it's going to be challenging emotionally and physically, but you know hopefully with the amount we will raise by the end, it will all be worth it.

"Chigwell was such a poignant place to start. It's sort of retracing my mum's story starting there.

"We're living in such a turbulent time and I know people are spending their hard-earned money on this cause.

"It is not going unnoticed, and it has been incredible."

Charlie said it was "very emotional" to receive donations.
