A taxi driver has been found guilty of causing death by dangerous driving after hitting passenger Michael Ashton with his car in Basildon.

Michael Ashton, 28, died following the collision caused by Hayadulla Turkmani, who drove into him moments after dropping him at his Langdon Hills home following a night out.

Essex Police launched an investigation which revealed dangerous driving, refuting Turkmani's claim that Ashton had walked in front of the car.

Ashton was taken to hospital in critical condition after the incident on 26th September last year and died on 4th October.

Turkmani is set to be sentenced at Basildon Crown Court on 21st October.
