Peaky Blinders film The Immortal Man arrives on Netflix

By order of!

As the much-anticipated Peaky Blinders film finally arrives on Netflix after its cinematic release on 6th March, fans are flocking to take their sofas to see Cillian Murphy reprise his infamous role — possibly for the last time, as it's thought that The Immortal Man will wrap up Tommy Shelby's storyline after the original six seasons.

Shortly before the film's release in cinemas, the show's creator, Steven Knight, revealed which essential three episodes of Peaky Blinders all fans need to rewatch before they see the film — and you will NOT be disappointed with his choices.

Which episodes of Peaky Blinders should I watch before seeing the film?

According to mastermind Steven Knight CBE, the most important episodes to watch are Season One, Episode One; Season Two, Episode Six and Season Six, Episode Six. Here's what he says about why they're imperative viewing.

Season One, Episode One: "It really lays out what this whole series is about. It introduces Tommy Shelby in a way that I think makes it pretty unequivocal about who this person is. Just his look, the way he is, the attitude... It really says so much about what Peaky is going to be about and the whole episode is essential to know exactly what this family is and what they do, and why they are so fearsome."

Season Two, Episode Six: "The last episode of series two features my favourite sequence of the whole series, which is the moment when Tommy Shelby appears to be about to be shot and killed. There are three people around him with guns, he's unarmed, they've already dug his grave. He asks for time to smoke a cigarette, and in that moment, he reviews his life - his regrets, the things he wishes he had done.

"As an audience, we think maybe think: this is it. And then there is a twist - he survives. What that gives us is, here is a man who is not sure if he wants to live or die. In this moment, at the end of episode six, we can see that, actually, he wants to choose life."

Season Six, Episode Six: "It ties up a lot of things, it resolves a lot of things - it's full of surprises, I hope. But at the end, it is a resolution of a sort in that Tommy is confronted with someone who has attempted to kill him and deceive him, and he has a gun in his hand and he can shoot that person. But he decides not to. The Tommy previous to that would have done that. He puts the gun away, goes back to his horse and he rides away into the sunset. We may believe that Tommy is cured, that he's riding away to have a simpler life.

"I hope they're going to be shocked and surprised because there's a lot in the movie, there's a lot going on. There are a lot of revelations. And, more than we've ever done, we get to the heart of who Tommy Shelby is, what he wants, who he loves, who loves him, who hates him. Everything revolves around Tommy Shelby and this movie really is his movie."

Who is Barry Keoghan playing in the Peaky Blinders film?

Ever since his casting was confirmed back in August 2024, fans have been eager to find out who Barry Keoghan is playing in the Peaky Blinders film, The Immortal Man. Thankfully, this was confirmed on social media by film bosses, who revealed that Barry is taking over the role of Duke Shelby, Tommy's illegitimate son, from Conrad Khan, who played Duke in season six.

This was confirmed by two social media posts — the first of which shows Barry and Conrad in a split picture alongside each other with the caption: 'The boy became a man.'

The second was a short clip featuring Barry in character with the caption: 'It's Duke Shelby's time to take the crown.'

Is Barry Keoghan playing Tommy's son Charlie?

No, he isn't. After the announcement that he would be playing Duke, there was a little confusion in the social media comments with fans asking whether Duke and Tommy's son Charles (or Charlie) were the same person — but they're not.

Charles is Tommy's legitimate son with his former wife Grace (played by Annabelle Wallis) who was murdered in season three. Duke is Tommy's illegitimate son who he met in season six, who was born before Tommy went off to war.

Is there a trailer?

Yes, there is! The team released the full-length trailer in February 2026, giving us our first glimpse of Tommy as an older man, along with Stephen Graham and Rebecca Ferguson in character.

We also get to see Barry Keoghan in full Peaky gear — and that's a pretty impressive West Midlands accent that the native Irishman has pulled off! Take a look:

The first teaser trailer was released on Christmas Eve 2025, you can watch it below.

When did the Peaky Blinders film come out?

The film is out now in select cinemas (having officially released on 6th March 2026). It is also available to stream on Netflix, landing on 20th March 2026. There was also a premiere in Birmingham on 2nd March.

Who is in the cast of the Peaky Blinders film?

Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby

Cillian Murphy will be reprising his role as everyone's favourite anti-hero, Tommy Shelby, who discovered at the end of the final season that his terminal diagnosis was a fake ploy at the hands of Oswald Mosley, the fascist MP.

Of rejoining the Peaky cast, Cillian said: "It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn't finished with me... It is very gratifying to be recollaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders. This is one for the fans."

Cillian is one of the most prolific actors of our time with a plethora of credits to his name. To name a few, you may recognise him from 28 Days Later, The Dark Knight trilogy, Dunkirk and Oppenheimer, for which he won an Oscar, a BAFTA, a Golden Globe and an IFTA.

Sophie Rundle as Ada Thorne

Tommy's sister Ada, played by Sophie Rundle, also features in the film. In season six, we saw Ada step up in the family business and even involving herself in Tommy's political pursuits. Sophie was confirmed to be appearing in the film in October 2024, along with Stephen Graham (Hayden Stagg), Ned Dennehy (Charlie Strong), Packy Lee (Johnny Dogs) and Ian Peck (Curly).

Sophie is also known for her roles as Ann Walker in Gentleman Jack, Lucy in The Bletchley Circle, Vicky Budd in Bodyguard, ITV's Titanic miniseries, Call the Midwife, Happy Valley, The Nest, The Diplomat and After the Flood.

Stephen Graham as Hayden Stagg

Hayden Stagg only appeared in two episodes of Peaky Blinders season six, but he was able to make a lasting impression in just a few scenes - thanks to Stephen Graham's renowned acting prowess. It's no surprise he was asked to return for the film, given such an enigmatic and sporadic appearance in the series. A union convener and dock worker in Liverpool, Hayden was found to be pilfering and selling the Shelby's opium behind their backs - but Tommy chose to trust him with a different task by the end of the series... Protecting a shipment of guns.

Stephen has a plethora of acting credits to his name, having starred in Snatch, Gangs of New York, This Is England, Boardwalk Empire, Pirates of the Caribbean, Line of Duty, Boiling Point, White House Farm, Time, Help, Matilda the Musical, A Thousand Blows and Adolescence.

Rebecca Ferguson as twins Kaulo and Zelda

Hollywood star Rebecca Ferguson is a brand new face to the world of Peaky, playing the dual role of twins Kaulo and Zelda.

Rebecca may be most well-known for her role as Ilsa Faust in the Mission Impossible series opposite Tom Cruise, but she's also been in the 2014 Hercules film adaptation with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, The Girl on the Train, The Greatest Showman, Doctor Sleep, Dune and The White Queen among many others.

Barry Keoghan as Duke Shelby

Details around Barry Keoghan's character were shrouded in mystery - that is, until a couple of weeks before the film's release. The Irish actor has had a stratospheric rise to fame in the last couple of years, and online forums speculated that he'd either portray Tommy Shelby's son Charlie or be another member of the Peaky gang. The fact he was photographed on set wearing the signature flat cap was a slightly telling sign! It was then confirmed at the end of February 2026 that he would be portraying Duke Shelby, taking over from Conrad Khan who played the character in season six.

After various roles in small films and TV shows, Barry became "one to watch" in 2017 after his stellar turn in Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk and The Killing of a Sacred Deer. Since then, he's starred in American Animals, Calm With Horses, Chernobyl, The Green Knight, Eternals, The Batman, The Banshees of Inisherin, Saltburn, Top Boy and Masters of the Air.

Tim Roth as John Beckett

Again, information about Tim Roth's participation in the film was kept tightly behind production lines. The Hollywood star was announced to have been cast shortly after Rebecca Ferguson and Barry Keoghan.

Tim may be best known for his collaborations with American director Quentin Tarantino, having appeared in his films Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction among others. He's also been in The Hit, Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead, Rob Roy, The War Zone, Planet of the Apes, The Incredible Hulk, Selma, Lie to Me, Rillington Place, Tin Star and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

Ned Dennehy as Charlie Strong

Fans of the show will have been glad to hear the news that Peaky stalwart Ned Dennehy would be returning as Charlie Strong. A brother of the Shelby family's late mother, Uncle Charlie always helped Tom with his schemes - but tried to steer his morals back to safety when they appeared to be swaying. In the final episode, Charlie was still by Tommy's side, entrusted with various responsibilities as Tom disappeared to what he thought was his death.

Ned has also appeared in the likes of Reign of Fire, Sherlock Holmes, Harry Potter, The Eagle, Jane Eyre, The Woman in Black: Angel of Death, Calm with Horses, Guns Akimbo, Dickensian, Good Omens, The Young Offenders, Outlander and Shōgun.

Ian Peck as Curly

Another fan-favourite returning to the fold was Ian Peck's Curly. Stable-hand Curly was a long-time friend and ally to the family, being cared for by Charlie due to having additional needs but deeply trusted by Tommy due to his apparent connection and understanding with horses, and his loyalty to the Shelby family.

Ian has also appeared in His Dark Materials, Father Brown, Robin Hood, Lady Chatterley's Lover, Endeavour, The Wolfman and Harry Potter, among a smattering of other TV appearances.

Packy Lee as Johnny Dogs

Yet another welcome familiar face is Packy Lee as Johnny Dogs. Having long been an ally to the family through their Romani heritage, Johnny was instrumental in pretty much every scheme the Shelby family ran throughout the series - including Tommy's last big bust up with his cousin Michael, Aunt Polly Gray's son.

Packy is best known for his role as Johnny Dogs in Peaky Blinders, but has also appeared in Blue Lights, Derry Girls, The Witcher, The Frankenstein Chronicles and Clean Break, with a few other TV titles under his belt.

Ruby Ashbourne Serkis as Agnes Shelby

Another new face to the franchise is Ruby Ashbourne Serkis, who plays the role of Agnes Shelby.

If Ruby's name or face looks slightly familiar, it's because she comes from a famous family. Her father is Andy Serkis, best known for playing Gollum in the Lord of the Rings series and Caesar in the Planet of the Apes franchise, and her mother is Lorraine Ashbourne, who viewers may know from the likes of Alma's Not Normal and Bridgerton. Ruby herself has also starred in Cider with Rosie, National Treasure, The Letter for the King, The Serpent, Becoming Elizabeth and I, Jack Wright.

Jay Lycurgo as Elijah

Jay Lycurgo is also a new actor on the scene for The Immortal Man.

Jay already has some pretty impressive titles to his name, having appeared in I May Destroy You, War of the Worlds, Cheaters, The Batman, Titans and Generation Z.

Is Arthur in The Immortal Man?

No, Arthur is not in the film. Without giving too much away as the film is still only new out, actor Paul Anderson spoke to LadBible ahead of the film's premiere about his lack of participation in the project.

He told the publication he thought it was "amazing", but added: "I was slightly apprehensive. We made a good show, we ain’t made enough seasons – I think we should’ve just done a couple more seasons."

When asked about not appearing in the film, he graciously said: "Well, what can you do eh? It is how it is. I thought I’d just leave them to it," and added about his character's fate: "I think it’s great. I mean, it’s such a powerful thing to do. It’s something you don’t see on TV."

What happens in the Peaky Blinders film?

The official Netflix press site reads: 'Birmingham, 1940. Amidst the chaos of WWII, Tommy Shelby is driven back from a self-imposed exile to face his most destructive reckoning yet. With the future of the family and the country at stake, Tommy must face his own demons, and choose whether to confront his legacy, or burn it to the ground. By order of the Peaky Blinders…'

Steven also spoke about the plot line for the film: "We're going to make a film – a feature film – which will move the world on, and then once we've moved the world on into the Second World, we'll see where that takes us.

"It's now a situation where the world... You know, around the world, the Peaky world, it's got so much energy, and so much following, and such a huge fanbase, that you think: 'Well, let's just carry on.' So we do."

In another update from the show creator, he teased to Radio Times that the film would be the "same" Peaky Blinders that we know "but different" and suggested fans "expect the unexpected".

Who is on the soundtrack?

The full soundtrack was released on 6th March with the film — and it has been announced that Grian Chatten of Fontaines D.C has written an original song titled 'Puppet' for the soundtrack.

He spoke in an interview with Cillian Murphy about participating in the project, confessing that he and the other band members were huge fans of the TV show — and in return, Cillian is known to be an admirer of the Dublin-based Irish band.

Cillian said he and director Tom Harper were "so excited" about Fontaines D.C.'s 2024 album 'Romance', feeling it had been written for the film, with Grian adding: "It's a show all of us have been watching for a long time.

"We wanted to do something that sounded inherently Peaky. It's a songwriter's dream, really. There's a precariousness in the music, it's on a knife edge and that's where the tension comes from."

Who directed the film?

Direction was undertaken by Tom Harper, whose most well-known work is Wild Rose starring Jessie Buckley, The Aeronauts and series War & Peace, plus a couple of episodes of This Is England '86. He's also directed three episodes of the Peaky series, so he's not a totally new face to the franchise.
