Bella Ciao is STILL playing

The masks are back on – or at least, that’s the strong hint from Netflix, which has quietly confirmed that the Money Heist universe isn’t done robbing our attention just yet. In a new teaser shared ahead of spin-off Berlin season 2, the streamer reveals that this record-breaking crime saga is officially gearing up for another chapter.
Netflix is keeping the exact format deliberately vague, but it appears the revolution is still alive, the Professor’s legacy is safe, and fans should prepare for more heists, twists and red jumpsuits in their watchlists.
What is the Money Heist renewal?
Netflix has announced that Money Heist (La Casa de Papel) is returning in some form - confirming that the show’s universe will continue beyond its original five-part run.
The streamer has not specified whether this will be a brand-new season, a fresh spin-off or a direct continuation of the main story, only that the franchise is officially expanding. Whatever shape it takes, the renewal makes clear that Money Heist is moving from hit series into long-term crime franchise territory.
How was it announced?
On 9th May 2026, the renewal was revealed via a new teaser video shared on X, alongside the caption: 'The revolution isn't over yet. The world of LA CASA DE PAPEL continues...'. In the clip, Netflix frames the news as the next phase of a growing universe rather than a simple season order, hinting at more ambitious, interconnected storytelling ⤵️.
As part of the announcement, Netflix released a bold mission-style statement setting the tone for what comes next, writing: 'Some stories start with the perfect strike. And this one changed everything. From the first heist for cash to the most artful robbery of the century, including the assault that put tons of gold from the Bank of Spain on the line, the universe of ‘Money Heist’ has never stopped growing, evolving, and surprising us.'
It added: 'But if there’s one thing that’s clear, it’s that the revolution NEVER ends. From now on, this is mission control for everything in the ‘Money Heist’ universe. If you want in on the next plan and don’t want to miss a single move from the gang, this is the place to be. The world of ‘Money Heist’ continues on Netflix.'

What is Money Heist about?
Money Heist follows a mysterious criminal mastermind known as the Professor, who assembles a crew of misfit specialists to pull off intricately planned, politically charged heists against powerful institutions. Initially focused on a daring robbery at the Royal Mint of Spain, the series later escalates to an audacious mission involving tonnes of gold from the Bank of Spain, all while its red jumpsuits and Dali masks become global symbols of rebellion.
The show blends twist-heavy plotting with emotional character arcs, and anti-establishment themes. It's become one of Netflix’s most-watched non-English-language hits, even winning an International Emmy for Best Drama Series.
Over time, the franchise has expanded beyond the main series into spin-off Berlin, documentary specials Money Heist: The Phenomenon and Money Heist: From Tokyo to Berlin, plus a video game!
Where to watch Money Heist
Right now, Money Heist is available to stream on Netflix, with all episodes from the original series ready to binge. Spin-off Berlin and the documentary titles connected to the franchise also sit on the same platform.
