Love Island fans complain about 'boring' final

After almost two months of drama, the 13th series of Love Island finally came to an end last night (Monday 27th July), with the public voting Lorenzo Alessi and Julia Majchrzak as the new King and Queen of the villa.

However, it seems fans of the show were left a little disappointed at this year's final, with many usual features missing.

Not only was the show 10 minutes shorter than past years and only featured three couples instead of four, producers chose to not show any footage of what the finalists got up to during their last 24 hours in the villa, meaning there were no first dates, no declarations of love, and no final meal.

Instead, bosses chose to fill the 80-minute final slot with host Maya Jama interviewing this year's Islanders, and final couples.

Taking to social media to complain, fans expressed their opinions on the new format, and it's safe to say not everybody was happy.

One wrote: 'This is so boring, we want to see FINAL DATES'. (sic)

Another said: 'the most underwhelming finale. no final romantic dates and no love letters? love island uk fell off so bad it’s astonishing #LoveIsland'. (sic)

Throughout the series, other notable parts of the show to be left out this year also included the iconic baby challenge and talent show, which also didn't go unnoticed.

One wrote: 'No declarations of love. No dates. No talent show. No baby challenge. No last night and day content of the finalists. No finalists video during their interviews. It was a dark final week and the final seemed off. #LoveIsland #LoveIslandUK'. (sic)

With another adding: 'so many things missing this season... only 2 dates all these weeks, no final dates, no dress shopping, or final speeches dancing, no group meal cooking (thankfully no baby episode though) are ITV skint?'. (sic)

At the end of the final, host Maya announced Julia and Lorenzo as the new winners, receiving more votes than runners-up Jasmine and Kavan, and third-place couple Angelista and Simba.
