Perrie kicked off her solo career all the way back in 2024, releasing her debut solo single 'Forget About Us' in April 2024 following Little Mix's hiatus after their 'Confetti Tour' in 2022.
She quickly signed a solo deal with Columbia Records, confirming in March 2023 that she was in the studio - and just over a year later, we were graced with this upbeat pop banger! Here's everything you need to know about the track...
A few weeks after dropping the single, Perrie delighted fans by sharing a live performance of the track at the release party in a surprise performance, where she showed off her AMAZING vocals, hitting the high notes to perfection.
Check out 'Forget About Us' live below:
When was it released?
The track landed on Friday 12th April 2024.
Who wrote 'Forget About Us'?
'Forget About Us' was co-written by Ed Sheeran and Evanescence's David Hodges (who wrote Kelly Clarkson's 'Because of You'). Perrie opened up to NME about how Ed sent her a demo, which she loved, but she was keen to change some of the lyrics, to make it more "her".
The singer explained: "So Ed (Sheeran) sent me the song and then I spoke to him, and at the time, like, the lyrics were very like, the concept was very direct to what it was about.
"And I rang him and I was like, 'Would you might if I just tweak little bits?', and I was like, 'I'm not just going to be on the writing credits for the craic, because that gives me the ick'. I hate it when people do that, I don't want to take away... You produced this song, you wrote it, you sent it to me.
"I just want to tweak it lyrically, so that's it's more me, and it's more where I'm at in my life now. And I felt really strongly about the concept being in that direction, not that one and he was totally cool with it."
Ed told Perrie to take full ownership of the song, and change anything she wasn't comfortable with, as Perrie went on to explain, Ed told her: "Change it and we'll work on it from then."
The pair went on to have a session over Zoom!
Where did it come in the charts?
It peaked at Number 10 in the UK charts, and has gone on to be certified Silver by the BPI in November 2024.
Which album is it on?
'Forget About Us' was released as the first single from Perrie's debut solo album, 'Perrie', which also featured hits 'If He Wanted to He Would', 'Sand Dancer' and 'You Go Your Way' among many others.
Why was 'Forget About Us' chosen as her debut solo release?
"I think it just felt right," Perrie explained to NME, continuing: "I think it just felt instinctively right and the team all agreed, and as soon as like Ed (Sheeran) sent it I thought, 'Ah that's it, it's a bit of a banger'."
She went on to explain: "I noticed myself singing it, every two seconds around the house, I'd be like, 'What is that song again?'"
'Forget About Us' artwork
Nearly a month before the song was released, Perrie shared the artwork writing: '“Here’s the truth of it….” Wow 🥹 it’s happening!! My first solo single Forget About Us is coming, available to pre-save now 🩵'.

In March 2023, Perrie then spoke to Grazia about her solo music saying: "My label (Columbia Records) have told me to just go with the flow and enjoy discovering what my sound is going to be. At a similar time, Perrie also posted a TikTok where she could be seen walking to the sound booth, grabbing the headphones and putting them on her head, before for the video stops. The video was accompanied by the 'Let's Goal Up' audio, where a woman narrates: "Girl, you have no idea how amazing life is about to get for you, stay focussed and trust the process."
Perrie mirrored the audio with her caption 'Replying to @SisuruTheLegion trust the process ⏳✨', which appears to be a fan account for her former bandmate Leigh-Anne Pinnock.
