Earlier this week, Alex Warren announced his second album 'Wildchild' would be released in August, and on that album there are several songs for all types of emotions. As he explained in a chat with us: "I wanted to have at least a song or two for each emotion you feel."
The singer joined Fleur East for a Rayo Special, where he revealed there's one song on the album that he thinks will really surprise fans. Alex, whose 2025 breakthrough song 'Ordinary' has returned to Number 1 on the Hits UK Chart in recent weeks, explained he had a "hype up" song.
'Won't Go Back Again'
When Fleur asked if there was a song that might surprise fans, he admitted: "There's one song, ‘Won't Go Back Again', it doesn't sound like a song I would put out."
The singer went on to explain: "Like it really doesn't... When we were writing it, we were just trying to find a hype up song. I love hype up songs and I listen to them like if I'm about to go play a show, or if I'm about to go skateboarding or whatever."

Alex then added: "I listen to a hype up song and I wanted one that was like cool, but it could also one day be a sync (license) for like basketball or any sport. Like I think it was really cool that I had a lot of songs in Madden (video game) and a bunch of other things. So I wanted to write a song for like ESPN and stuff like that."
When will ‘Won't Go Back Again' be released?
Alex has not yet announced if ‘Won't Go Back Again' will be released as a single, however it will be released as part of the album on Friday 28th August 2026.

Alex Warren's second album 'Wildchild'
During the chat, Alex also spoke about the inspiration behind his upcoming album. The 'Fever Dream' singer said: "I think, (it) is a really palatable, digestible version of me, kind of coming to terms with who I am today in my childhood and my dad's a huge part of this album.
"You know, there's snippets of his voice. If you watch the show, there's snippets of him in it. And I think especially now, you know, I had such a grief album before and this is another way of kind of explaining that."
He also explained in a separate interview: "Growing up, my dad used to call me Wildchild so it’s always had a special meaning and I even have it tattooed on me.
"Creating this album was really healing, therapeutic and a way for me to continue finding out more about myself."
