What is Cars about?

The original Cars follows Lightning McQueen, a hotshot rookie race car who gets stranded in Radiator Springs and slowly learns there is more to life than winning. The franchise expanded with Cars 2, which shifts into a globe-trotting spy-adventure style, and Cars 3, where Lightning faces a new generation of faster racers and has to decide what comes next for his career.

Pixar also spun the world out into Disney+ projects, including Cars on the Road and Cars Toons shorts.

When did Cars come out?

Cars was first released in 2006, which is why this September re-release marks its 20th anniversary.
