Girl, 11, found dead in water after going missing near Gorebridge named

An 11-year-old girl who died after going missing in Midlothian has been named as Faith Curran.

Faith was reported missing by her family in the Gore Glen area, near Gorebridge, at around 12.40pm on Thursday.

Her body was found in the Gore Water, near Shanks Bridge, at around 4.25pm that afternoon.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a tribute, Faith's family described her as a "happy, adventurous, and outgoing girl who enjoyed life".

They also thanked those who helped with the search for their support and kindness, and have asked for their privacy to be respected.

Police Scotland said Faith's death is being treated as unexplained, although there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.

Enquiries remain ongoing and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
