Tyler Davison, 23, of Manby Road, Scunthorpe, has been found guilty of assault causing actual bodily harm and coercive behaviour following an eight-day trial at Hull Crown Court.

The case originates from an investigation launched in February 2025 after police responded to a third-party report that a woman was dragged from her bed and attacked.

Details of the investigation

Police officers deployed to the scene found the victim with serious injuries to her face and head. She was taken to hospital for treatment, and initial enquiries included witness statements and a detailed victim impact statement.

Throughout the investigation, further disclosures were made highlighting instances of past assaults and coercive behaviour by Davison against the woman.

Davison was arrested and interviewed, denying the allegations put to him. He was charged with attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent and engaging in coercive and controlling behaviour.

The trial commenced on 18th March 2026, resulting in Davison's conviction by unanimous jury decision. He remains in custody awaiting sentencing on 30th April 2026.

Response and support

PC Green, leading the investigation, commended the victim's bravery, recognizing the emotional toll cases like this can impose on those involved.

“Davison’s behaviour was sustained, violent, and controlling...It is particularly concerning that this offending took place within what should have been a safe and trusted environment,” PC Green said.

She urged those who believe they might be victims of similar abuse to come forward, ensuring that reports are treated seriously and support is provided.
