Two men arrested after Hull stabbing

Two men have been arrested, after a stabbing in Hull this morning (Wednesday, 1 July 2026).

At approximately 6.50am, officers were called to attend Morpeth Street after a man had been stabbed following an alleged altercation between two men.

Detective Inspector Helen Collier said: “I’d like to reassure residents that we believe this incident to be between people known to each other and there is no wider risk to the public.

“Since we received the report this morning, I have had officers on the ground conducting house to house, and CCTV enquiries, as well as obtaining witness statements to determine the full circumstances around the incident.

“After receiving the report that one man had been stabbed, from our initial enquiries so far, we have established that the two men involved in the altercation have sustained what are believed to be stab wounds.

“Both men, 34-years-old and 49-years-old, were taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries that are not believed to be life threatening at this time.

“The 49-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and the 34-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. Both men remain in police custody at this time while enquiries are ongoing.

“The road closure and scene guard that was put in place has since been lifted, although members of the public can expect to continue to see an increased police presence in the area
