Road repairs programme underway in Hull
This year’s programme focuses on roads that form part of Hull’s major road network
Hull City Council is set to launch its annual surface dressing programme, giving 12 key roads across the city a much-needed upgrade to improve safety and extend their lifespan.
The city-wide programme will begin today (Monday 21 July) and is scheduled to be completed by Thursday 31 July, weather permitting.
No work will take place over the weekend.
This year’s programme focuses on roads that form part of Hull’s major road network and main bus routes, which are showing early signs of wear and deterioration.
Surface dressing is a preventative maintenance treatment that seals the road surface, helping to avoid more serious damage and costly repairs in the future.
Preparation works, including patching and crack sealing, have already been carried out where necessary to ensure the roads are ready for treatment.
Councillor Mark Ieronimo, portfolio holder for transport and infrastructure, said:
“Surface dressing is essential for keeping these roads in the city well-maintained and safe for all road-users.
“We understand that roadworks can be inconvenient, and we’ll do everything we can to minimise disruption.
“Thank you to residents and road users for your patience while we carry out these essential improvements.”
