Suspected stolen vehicle leads officers on risky chase
Police officers in Grimsby apprehended a 51-year-old man following a dramatic pursuit after a suspected stolen vehicle entered North East Lincolnshire.
Lincolnshire police alerted their northern counterparts on 7th July 2026 about a vehicle believed to have travelled from their area into Cleethorpes Road towards Grimsby.
Armed Response Officers, acting swiftly, located a car matching the description.
However, the driver allegedly reacted by speeding off, ignoring police requests to stop.
As the pursuit unfolded, the driver reportedly rammed into the police vehicle multiple times in an effort to escape.
Fortunately, there were no injuries to officers or the public.
The chase concluded when the vehicle finally stopped, allowing Roads Policing Officers to arrest the driver on suspicion of multiple offences.
These include burglary dwelling with intent to steal, theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, failing to stop, and two counts of criminal damage.
He has been released on bail while investigations continue.
