A police dog has played a pivotal role in apprehending suspects involved in a car and van convoy linked to alleged criminal activity on the M180 in North Lincolnshire.
Police were alerted to two vehicles suspected of involvement in criminality around 2.45am on Tuesday, 14th July 2026.
The van was traced to the A18 near Crowle, where its driver reportedly failed to stop when prompted by officers, initiating a brief pursuit.
PD Obi’s crucial intervention
As the van driver attempted to flee on foot, PD Obi was deployed to assist.
The police dog successfully located the individual hiding in a bush, leading to his detention.
An inspection of the van revealed a significant amount of suspected stolen property, including everyday items such as toothpaste and deodorant.
Additional arrests made
Shortly thereafter, the convoy car was intercepted near the South Yorkshire Police border.
Two men, aged 36 and 28, were arrested at the scene.
All suspects have been conditionally bailed, pending further investigation.
Injuries lead to mandatory referral
The 41-year-old van driver was hospitalised after injuries sustained while attempting to leave a moving vehicle and from dog bites incurred during his arrest.
A mandatory referral has been submitted to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
