Police detain dangerous driver in Hull
He was driving the wrong way and over the alcohol limit
At around 3.15am this morning (Friday, 1 August), an off-duty officer spotted a vehicle being driven the wrong way down Beverley Road, near to the junction with Etherington Road, in Hull.
The police officer managed to stop the driver and swiftly called for back up from the roads policing unit after the man allegedly tried to make off on foot.
With the man detained by the off-duty police officer, the roads policing unit were quick to arrive and conducted a roadside breath test in which the driver is reported to have failed.
A 57-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving whilst over the prescribed limit and remains in police custody assisting with ongoing enquiries at this time.
