North Road in Hull will close this weekend for emergency carriageway resurfacing works.

The full road closure will be in place on Saturday 9 May and Sunday 10 May to allow resurfacing to take place near Francis Askew Primary School, by the signalised pedestrian crossing.

Hull City Council says the work is essential after the carriageway was found to be in poor condition.

The improvements are intended to provide a safe and even surface for all road users.

During the works, North Road will be fully closed, with a signed diversion in place via Askew Avenue and Boothferry Road.

Chris Jackson, director for regeneration and partnerships at Hull City Council, said: “The council has identified the need for these improvements and has acted quickly to resurface the road at the earliest opportunity.

“We appreciate that North Road is a busy road on our network and thank our road users for their patience during the works this weekend.”

Work is due to start at 8am on Saturday 9 May, with the closure remaining in place until 5pm on Sunday 10 May.

The resurfacing will be carried out on behalf of the council by East Coast Surfacing Ltd.
