A Cleethorpes police officer helped save a man’s life when he suffered a medical emergency during the New Waltham Remembrance Day event in Grimsby.

While representing the force at the ceremony, Neighbourhood Policing Constable Dan Mosley quickly responded in the middle of the emergency to provide vital assistance and call for help.

Constable Mosley made an immediate 999 call to the Ambulance Service and requested the code for the defibrillator machine from a nearby lock box.

Although the equipment was not ultimately used, it was swiftly prepared and later returned to working order, ensuring availability in case of any future emergency.

The rescue effort was strengthened by the vital assistance of two retired and off-duty medical professionals at the scene.

A local Scout group present at the event also played a part, helping to ensure the ceremony still ran professionally and respectfully while the man received treatment.

Dan Mosley has since visited the man, who is now safely recovering at his home in Grimsby. The man and his wife expressed their gratitude to everyone who supported them during the incident, including Constable Mosley, the medical staff, and the Scouts.

While the officer and the individual were unable to take part in the main Remembrance Sunday event planned at 11am, their actions underlined the importance of prioritising human life.
