Man in hospital with serious injuries after assault in Hull
A cordon is in place following reports that a man was seriously assaulted in the area of Queen Victoria Square, Hull in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Emergency services were called to scene at around 3.40am
A 53-year-old man was taken to hospital to receive treatment for a serious head injury, where he remains at this time.
Detective Inspector Mark Hawley said: “I understand the concern this incident will cause within the community, and I would like to offer reassurance that a team of officers are carrying out extensive enquiries at pace.
“Members of the public can expect to see an increased police presence in the area, and a scene guard remains in place on Carr Lane while our enquiries are ongoing.
“I would urge anyone who was in the area at the time, who has not already spoken to us, and may have witnessed the incident to please come forward."
