Man arrested after bus assault in Hull

A 75-year-old man was taken to hospital after sustaining facial injuries as a result of the assault

A 26-year-old man has been arrested after a serious assault that happened on George Street in Hull yesterday afternoon (Thursday, 23 October) at around 1:50pm.

A 75-year-old man sustained facial injuries and was taken to hospital after an alleged assault by another man on the bus. The injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Detective Inspector Andrew Crawforth said: “Following the report, I can confirm a 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and use of threatening behaviour to provoke violence and remains in police custody whilst enquiries are ongoing."

“I understand an incident of this nature will be concerning for the local community; however, I want to offer my reassurance that we take reports of this nature seriously and we believe this to be an incident between two people known to each other.”

Anyone with any information on the event is being urged to come forward in order to support Humberside Police with their investigation.
