Six kittens abandoned in Hull on Christmas Day are rescued
RSPCA highlights animal welfare concerns after hundreds of calls over the festive period

Six kittens found abandoned in a Hull alleyway on Christmas Day are now being cared for by the RSPCA.
The young cats, named Nutcracker, Tinsel, Brussels, Parsnip, Gravy and Pudding, were discovered in an empty Felix kitten meat pouches box left in an alleyway off Melrose Street in the city at around 10am.
The two girls and four boys, who are all black and white, were rescued by a member of the public who ensured their safety before contacting the RSPCA.
RSPCA Inspector Thomas Hutton, who is conducting investigations into their abandonment, said: "It’s heart-breaking that these young kittens were abandoned in such a thoughtless way - and on Christmas Day.
"A kind member of the public secured them so they were safe and the team at the RSPCA Hull & East Riding Branch are now giving them the care they desperately need but the outcome could have been so different for these little guys, especially in such cold weather.” "
RSPCA warns of winter welfare crisis
The incident is part of a wider issue highlighted by the RSPCA this winter. The charity received 241 calls on Christmas Day alone, and it is urging people to continue supporting animal welfare during this challenging period.
The organisation is also asking anyone with information about how the six kittens came to be abandoned in Hull to contact them and assist with the ongoing investigation.
