Hull City Council has outlined how it intends to use £1.5 million from the Government’s Pride in Place Impact Fund to improve the city.

The funding, split into two annual blocks of £750,000, will assist projects aimed at boosting businesses and enhancing high street areas across Hull.

At a council cabinet meeting held on 15th December 2023, plans were approved to direct the first £750,000 towards the City Centre Grants Scheme during the 2025/26 financial year. According to a council report, the scheme has already supported 44 businesses, many of which are micro businesses with fewer than 10 employees, and created 874 jobs across the city as of September 2025.

The second £750,000 is allocated for the 2026/27 financial year, with plans to channel the funds into the Community High Streets Programme. This initiative aims to invest in several high street areas, supporting both local businesses and the wider community in Hull.

Cllr Paul Drake-Davis, Hull City Council’s portfolio holder for regeneration and housing, said: “It’s a sensible decision to apply these to two schemes we already have up and running.” He added: “There’s no point reinventing the wheel.”

Hull’s £1.5 million grant is part of a broader £60 million investment in the city through the Government’s Pride in Place Scheme. Orchard Park, St. Andrew’s Quay, and Greatfield have each been earmarked to receive £20 million over a period of ten years.
