Police in Hull are investigating a series of burglaries and attempted burglaries at business premises on Newland Avenue between 31st July and 11th August.

Neighbourhood Policing Chief Inspector Jon Asvadi confirmed nine reports of commercial burglaries and stated that a 31-year-old man has been charged in connection with one incident on 31st July.

He was initially bailed pending further investigation but was arrested again on 6th August along with a 35-year-old man.

Both men have been released on conditional bail as enquiries continue to determine if the incidents are connected.

Local businesses and residents will see an increased police presence as officers conduct extensive enquiries, gathering witness statements and reviewing CCTV footage to identify those involved.

Chief Inspector Asvadi emphasised the seriousness with which burglary reports are handled, engaging regularly with local businesses and communities to address concerns.

To tackle such offences, police employ a range of tactics, including partnership with the local authority, patrolling by uniformed officers, offering security advice, and applying for criminal behaviour orders.

The programme also includes educating businesses on crime prevention, encouraging reporting to aid action against offenders.
