Man jailed for attempting sexual activity with child decoy in Hull
Ahmed sentenced to six years for attempting to engage in sexual activity
A 27-year-old man from Hull has been sentenced to six years in prison for attempting to engage in sexual activity with a decoy who he thought was a 12-year-old girl.
Mohammed Ahmed, of Park Grove, was also given a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and placed on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely after appearing at Hull Crown Court on 21st August 2026.
Ahmed was found guilty after a week-long trial at Hull Crown Court that ended on 10th July 2026.
The court heard that Ahmed attempted to engage in sexual communications with a child and tried to cause or incite a child to engage in sexual activity.
In June 2024, detectives from the Police Online Investigation Team (POLIT) received a referral stating Ahmed had started communication with what he believed was a 12-year-old girl, but was actually a decoy.
Ahmed sent sexual messages to the decoy, asking her to be his girlfriend and telling her he would take her somewhere private in his car when they met.
He was later arrested at his home in July 2024, and several mobile phones were seized, including those used for communication with the decoy.
Detective Constable Sam Harrington, who led the investigation from POLIT, expressed satisfaction with Ahmed's sentencing.
Ahmed was described as a "perverted individual" and a "sexual predator."
Harrington said, "Whilst this investigation involved a decoy child, I hope the sentence sends a clear message to anyone attempting to commit these types of offences, that it is never acceptable to prey on the vulnerable and we will bring you to justice for your crimes."
