Hull KR celebrate victory against Brisbane Broncos in World Club Challenge

Team holds strong in tense match at Hull FC stadium

Hull KR overcame a late surge from Brisbane Broncos to win the World Club Challenge at MKM Stadium with a score of 30-24.

The match capped off a triumphant performance, allowing Hull KR to become the fifth Super League team to secure the trophy.

Initially, Hull KR built a commanding 18-0 lead, with early tries from Tom Amone, Elliot Minchella, and Joe Burgess contributing to their advantage.

Despite handling errors hindering the Broncos’ attempts, the visitors mounted a comeback with tries from Patrick Carrigan, Deine Mariner, Gehamat Shibasaki, and Kotoni Staggs.

Nevertheless, Hull KR held their ground amidst rising pressure, maintaining their lead as time ran out.

The home team took advantage early on when Staggs’ error led to Amone’s score in the seventh minute.

Minchella added to Hull KR’s tally after another Broncos mistake, while Burgess capitalized on Rhyse Martin's setup to extend the score further.

Brisbane found their footing with Shibasaki’s first-half try, narrowing the difference before Oliver Gildart and Peta Hiku’s scores increased Hull KR's lead.

Brisbane's quick succession of three tries in the second half brought them close to the Robins, but Hull KR's defense held firm for the win in front of 24,600 spectators.

The decisive win by Hull KR ended with jubilant celebrations as the final whistle blew, cementing their place as World Club
