Hull FC says members of the club’s Women’s team and support staff stopped to provide assistance at the scene of a serious road accident.

The team were traveling to their Women’s Challenge Shield fixture against Rochdale Hornets on Sunday 29 March when they witnessed a car accident unfold on the M62 near Howden.

Players and staff offered support by releasing individuals from the vehicle, which was partly submerged in water in a roadside ditch, as well as administering first-aid on the scene and ensuring oncoming traffic on the motorway safely avoided the scene, before contacting the emergency services.

Hull FC said: "The players and staff were commended by the emergency services personnel who quickly arrived on the scene following the incident.

"Following the incident, the team left the scene and went on to claim a 4-20 victory in Rochdale on Sunday afternoon, progressing to the Third Round of the Women’s Challenge Shield.

"The team and support staff acted bravely and calmly when presented with an incredibly difficult situation, and the club extends their heartfelt gratitude for their actions."
