Hull is experiencing a sharp rise in drug-related crimes, climbing by 45 percent this year, prompting Humberside Police to increase patrols and seek local support to safeguard the community.

Police suspect gangs are travelling from larger cities, crossing county lines into Hull.

Matt Peach from Humberside Police highlights the importance of community involvement in tackling these issues, encouraging residents to report any suspicious activities.

"The community of Hull are not shy in coming forward, and thankfully they are telling our neighbourhood teams that are out there day in, day and night about the crimes that are occurring in their area, particularly around drugs offences. So my message is really clear: If you see drugs offences or have got information or intelligence, please tell us. We will act."

With overall crime down by 3.7 percent, the significant increase in drug offences highlights a specific challenge for authorities in the city.

By staying alert and engaged, locals play a vital role in addressing and mitigating the impact of drug-related crime.

Humberside Police remain committed to enhancing community safety, urging continued dialogue between officers and the public.
