Hull businesses brace for another busy night after Coldplay crowds
A Hull pub landlord's been getting prepared for weeks
Thousands of Coldplay fans poured into Hull last night as the band played to a packed audience, creating a huge buzz across the city. The influx of visitors saw streets, bars and restaurants bursting with activity long after the gig finished.
Local businesses are now preparing for another busy evening as fans return for the second night of Coldplay’s run. Many venues have brought in extra staff to cope with the demand,.
Harry Brown, landlord at The Crown, says he’s never witnessed anything quite like it in his 11 years running the pub. “The place was heaving,” he said. “We've had some big concerts and so with beautiful South and Tom Jones but not as big as this. Over two days we've got an outside sweet bar and we've got a burger van as well. We covered everybody who's passing by."
Asking he'd think if Coldplay was to come and visit his pub for an afterparty tonight, Harry said: " We would welcome them with open arms and entertain them quite Willingly."
With thousands more fans expected again tonight, businesses across Hull are hopeful the band’s shows will provide a welcome boost to trade and showcase the city as a lively destination for visitors.
