Person dies after getting into difficulty in water near Hessle Foreshore

A person has died after being recovered from the water near Hessle Foreshore.

Humber Rescue were called out just before 6pm on Saturday 25 April to reports of a person in the water.

They sent two lifeboats and found the casualty, bringing them aboard the lifeboat.

Despite medical care from multiple teams, including coastguards, paramedics and police officers, the casualty died in hospital.

A Humber Rescue spokesperson said "Incidents of this nature are deeply felt by our volunteer crew. All crews involved gave everything they could, as they always do, with the aim of saving life.

"Sometimes, despite the speed of response, the training, the equipment and the combined efforts of all emergency services, the outcome is not the one we all hoped for.

"On this occasion, despite everything that was done, it was not enough.

"The thoughts of everyone at Humber Rescue are with the casualty’s family, friends and loved ones at this very difficult time."
