Free Doctor Bike events returning across North East Lincolnshire this summer
People are being encouraged to dust off their bikes and get them checked for free
North East Lincolnshire Council has teamed up with cycling charity R-Evolution to offer free bike safety checks and minor repairs at locations across the borough.
The sessions are designed to help get “bikes out of the garage and back on the road” ahead of the summer months.
Trained mechanics will carry out safety inspections and fix common problems including punctures, brakes and chains while people wait. More serious issues will also be identified with advice on repairs.
Upcoming sessions include:
- Grimsby Leisure Centre — Thursday 29 May
- Duke of York Gardens — Tuesday 3 June
- Capes Recreation Ground — Wednesday 4 June
- Waltham Parish Council — Thursday 5 June
- Grant Thorold Park — Tuesday 10 June
- Immingham Civic Centre — Wednesday 11 June.
Tim Gooseman, Senior Transport Officer at Equans, said regular safety checks are “extremely important” and hopes the free events will encourage more people to cycle.
