We're told that a stretch of Flemingate in Beverley will be closed for "around two weeks" by the Northern Gas Network, after they identified "essential works" on some gas pipes.

It's not the first time that the stretch of road between the Minster and the rail line has closed recently, with Northern Gas Networks previously carrying out works several times within the last 12 months.

The closure was introduced around lunchtime yesterday (16th April), in collaboration with East Riding Council and is expected to last until the start of May.

Luke Wheeldon, Technician at Northern Gas Networks, said: “Our teams will be working continuously to complete the repairs, including throughout the Easter weekend, to ensure the road can be fully reopened as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

The gas supply to homes and businesses in the area will not be affected.
