Police investigate collision involving a car on Friday night

A cyclist is being treated in hospital with serious injuries following a collision in Hull.

The incident happened on James Reckitt Avenue at around 7.15pm last night

The road has now reopened.

Humberside Police issued the following statement:

"Officers investigating a road traffic collision between a car and a cyclist are appealing for witnesses after they were called at around 7.15pm yesterday evening (Friday 17 January)."

"It is reported that a black Ford Focus was traveling on James Reckitt Avenue, Hull towards the junction of Chestnut Grove, Hull when it was involved in a collision with a pedal cycle. The car subsequently collided with a tree to the side of the road before coming to a stop. "

"The cyclist, a 31-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries which are thought to be life threatening at this time. "

"The driver of the Ford, a 47-year-old woman was also taken to hospital for minor injuries."
