Officials in Italy say they've found the body of a British hiker who went missing in the Alps earlier this month.

33-year-old Matthew Hall from Hull hadn't been seen since last Tuesday after he set out on a solo walk in a town north of Lake Como.

Search teams say they found a body between 100 and 150 metres down from a famous observation deck in the Chiavenna valley.

A Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office Spokesperson said:

“We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Italy and are in contact with the local authorities.”
