Two men have been arrested after police were called to reports of a stabbing in Cleethorpes.

It happened near Blundell Park at around 8.45am this morning (25 June).

Two men sustained stab wounds during the incident, and were taken to hospital for treatment.

Detective Inspector Tom Kelly from Humberside Police said: “From our enquiries so far, we have established that an altercation took place between two men, believed to be known to each other, before both men reportedly sustained stab wounds.

“Both men, 26-years-old and 39-years-old, were taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries, which are no longer thought to be life threatening.

“They have both since been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and will be transported to custody. A knife has also been seized as part of our investigation so far.

“Members of the public can expect to continue to see an increased police presence in the area, and the road closures that were in place at the time, have now been lifted.

“A scene guard currently remains in place on Blundell Avenue in Cleethorpes as our investigation continues, and I would encourage anyone with information, or concerns, to please come and speak to us."
