17-year-old arrested after two teens die in Preston crash
It happened in the early hours of New Year's Day

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, following the death of two teenagers in a collision in East Yorkshire.
A grey Volkswagen Golf was travelling along Staithes Road away from Preston when it was in collision with a black Vauxhall Grandland travelling towards Preston at around 1.20am on New Year's Day.
Emergency services responded to the scene; however, two passengers of the Volkswagen Golf tragically lost their lives. A 16-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene, while an 18-year-old man was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries but sadly succumbed shortly thereafter.
Two additional passengers, a 16-year-old girl, remain in critical but stable condition, and a 17-year-old boy is now in serious but stable condition. A man remains on Police bail while enquiries continue.
A spokesperson from Humberside Police, said:
"Officers are continuing to appeal for information following a fatal road traffic collision in Preston, Hull in the early hours of Wednesday 1 January.
"A grey Volkswagen Golf was travelling along Staithes Road away from Preston when it was in collision with a black Vauxhall Grandland travelling towards Preston at approximately 1.20am.
"Emergency services attended however two passengers of the Volkswagen Golf died. A teenage boy, aged 16 was pronounced deceased at the scene, a man, aged 18 was conveyed to hospital for life threatening injuries however died a short while later.
"Two other passengers, a teenage girl, aged 16, remains in a critical but stable condition alongside a teenage boy, age 17, who now remains in a serious but stable condition.
"A passenger of the Vauxhall Grandland, a man, aged 62, was taken to hospital to receive treatment for injuries which are no longer life threatening alongside the driver, a woman, aged 34, who sustained a serious injury to her arm. Two other passengers suffered minor injuries.
"The driver of the Volkswagen, a teenage boy, aged 17 was arrested yesterday (Wednesday 1 January) on suspicion of two counts of causing death by dangerous driving.
"He has been released on bail whilst enquiries continue.
"The families continue to be supported by specialist trained officers at this extremely difficult time.
"We would appeal for anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the collision, who has dashcam footage or witnessed the collision and has not yet spoken to us, to contact us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 60 of 1 January."
