Traffic collision leaves 81-year-old woman in critical condition

Police have issued an appeal for information following a collision on Norwood in Beverley that has left an 81-year-old woman in critical condition.

The incident occurred at around 7.40am on Friday, 19th December 2025, when a grey Land Rover Freelander hit the pedestrian.

Emergency services attended the scene, and the injured woman was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. She is currently in a critical condition.

A 21-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving a vehicle over the prescribed limit and causing serious injury by careless driving. Police have confirmed he remains in custody as investigations continue.

Officers have asked anyone who witnessed the collision or has CCTV or dashcam footage from the area at the time to contact their non-emergency line on 101, quoting log 73 of 19th December.
