Appeal for video footage after Scarborough assault

Detectives investigating how a Scarborough man sustained “critical” head injuries during an altercation are urging witnesses and people with smartphone video footage of the incident to come forward immediately.

It happened on the crossroad of Longwestgate, Auborough Street, Cross Street and Friars Way, at around 11.15pm on Tuesday.

A group of men are believed to have been involved in the altercation.

One of them, a 40-year-old local man, is currently in a “critical” condition in hospital after paramedics were alerted to his address on New Year’s Day.

Extensive enquiries are ongoing to trace everyone connected to the incident.

As well as those who witnessed or have information about the altercation, police are also urging people to come forward who have taken or obtained smartphone video footage.
