Police and partners tackle antisocial behaviour in Goole town centre
Increased patrols and warnings target complaints in key areas of the town
Police in Goole, alongside local authorities and partners, have been working to tackle antisocial behaviour in areas including Goole Town Centre, Boothferry Road, Hook Road, and Pasture Road.
Concerns were raised by the community regarding a group of street drinkers whose behaviour reportedly included bad language, public urination, and acts of violence while under the influence of alcohol. These issues caused harassment and distress for businesses and shoppers.
Local PCSOs and Beat Officers from the Goole Neighbourhood Policing team implemented a range of measures to address the reported problems. These included:
Conducting high-visibility patrols in identified hotspot areas
Enforcing Public Space Protection Orders
Issuing dispersal orders to deter antisocial behaviour
Providing Community Protection Warnings and Notices to persistent offenders
Working toward issuing Criminal Behaviour Orders for more serious cases
One individual has received a two-year Community Behaviour Order preventing them from entering specific shops in Goole Town Centre. Others have been referred to council services for specialist support to help divert them away from crime.
Police say these actions have led to a reduction in complaints and reports from residents and businesses. There has also been positive feedback about the increased police presence and ongoing partnerships to address antisocial behaviour.
Local police are encouraging the public to continue reporting concerns by calling 101 for non-emergencies or 999 if a crime is ongoing. You can also contact your local team by visiting the ‘Find Your Area’ section via the police website.
