A temporary closure has been approved for Public Footpath No. 28 at Albert Dock in Hull, following a request from Associated British Ports (ABP) for safety reasons.

Hull City Council has sanctioned the temporary closure under Section 14 of the Highways Act 1980, affecting the footpath between the junction of Wellington Street and a point adjacent to Dunston’s Ship Repairs.

The path forms part of both the Trans Pennine Trail and the King Charles III England Coast Path and will be closed for up to six months to allow ABP to conduct safety investigations.

A signed diversion route has been put in place, directing pedestrians via Manor House Street, Kingston Street, and several other streets, ensuring continued access.

An ABP spokesperson stated, “Safety is a core value for ABP. Following specialist engineering advice, we've taken the decision to temporarily close the footpath as a precaution.”

Councillor Mark Ieronimo from Hull City Council emphasised public safety, acknowledging the inconvenience while thanking users for their patience.

He expressed that the closure will allow necessary investigations to proceed safely.

Pedestrians are advised to follow the signed diversion route and check updates from Travel Hull on social media or visit Hull's traffic and travel websites for more information.
