A180 Alexandra Dock Bridge in Grimsby set for overnight closures this week
Traffic diversions in place as resurfacing and safety works commence
Last updated 6th Oct 2026
Motorists in Grimsby are advised of upcoming overnight closures on the A180 Alexandra Dock Bridge this week. These closures are due to essential resurfacing and anti-skid coating works planned for Wednesday, 7th October and Thursday, 8th October, with Friday, 9th October reserved as a contingency.
The bridge will be closed from 8pm to 5am each night, with no access across it during these times. Traffic usually traversing Alexandra Dock Bridge will be rerouted through the centre of Grimsby, between Lockhill and Westgate roundabouts.
In addition, the long contraflow directing eastbound traffic onto the westbound carriageway will be shortened during one of the nights to facilitate expansion joint work on the westbound lane. Drivers are urged to follow all traffic management directions.
The closures aim to reopen promptly each morning once nightly work is completed, ensuring minimal disruption. Residents and commuters should plan alternative routes and allow for additional travel time during these periods.
