70-year-old man dies after car leaves road and crashes into hedgerow near Withernwick

A man in his 70s has died after a car left the road and crashed into a hedgerow in Withernwick.

It happened just after midday on Saturday on the edge of the village. Police say emergency crews tried to save the driver, but he died at the scene.

A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: "Officers were called to reports of a single‑vehicle road traffic collision in Withernwick on Saturday (7 February 2026).

It is reported at approximately 12.25pm that a black Jeep was travelling eastbound on Aldborough Road when, for reasons not yet clear, it is believed to have left the road and come to rest in a hedgerow.

Emergency services were deployed however, the driver of the car, a 70‑year‑old man, was found unconscious. Despite the efforts of emergency services, he sadly died at the scene.

His family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers at this difficult time."
