Humber Forest has planted a record 368 thousand trees - in the 2024 -25 planting season.

It includes 35 miles of hedgerows - a 35 percent rise on the previous year.

The initiative provides grants to farmers and communities to cover the cost of planting - to help improve the local environment.

Humber Forest is supported by the government through Defra, as the community forest for Hull, East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire.

It is one of 15 community forests in England and a part of the Northern Forest that stretches from Liverpool to the Yorkshire Coast.

Councillor Paul West, East Riding of Yorkshire Council cabinet member for environment and transport said, "We’re proud to support communities to improve their local environments, including through tree plantings. We highly encourage more landowners to find out more and get involved with the Humber Forest project."
