Nottingham Forest intend to hold formal talks with head coach Vitor Pereira over a new contract.

The Portuguese has done an impressive job at the City Ground following his appointment in February, guiding the club to Premier League safety and the Europa League semi-finals.

His current deal runs until the summer of 2027, but the Press Association understands informal talks have taken place with a view to extending his contract.

Pereira has impressed the hierarchy at the City Ground since coming in to replace Sean Dyche and they want him to lead Forest into the 2026/27 campaign.

Reports have linked Forest with a summer move for Fulham boss Marco Silva, but there is no desire within the club for a fifth manager in less than a year.

Silva has not been approached, nor has he rejected Forest, as some reports suggest.

Pereira, who is keen for a long-term stay in Nottingham, has guided Forest safely through a relegation battle.

They were staring a return to the Championship in the face when Dyche was sacked on February 12, but their Premier League survival was secured thanks to an eight-game unbeaten run going back to March.

Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Newcastle moved them seven points clear of the drop zone with two games to play.

They head to Manchester United on Sunday with a top-half finish still possible.
