Two 12-year-old boys are in hospital after being hit by a car in Nottingham.

Emergency services were called to Grannis Drive, in Aspley, at around 3.50pm yesterday afternoon, to what police describe as a collision involving a large car and the children.

The boys, who sustained significant injuries, are currently in hospital.

The driver of the vehicle involved remained at the scene and is cooperating with police inquiries.

No arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

Detective Sergeant Paul Clark from Nottinghamshire Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit said:

"This was a very serious and distressing incident, and our thoughts are with the injured children and their families.

"As we work to understand exactly what happened in the moments leading up to this collision, we'd like to speak with everyone who saw or heard what happened."
