Three arrests after weapons and drugs found in Radford
All three suspects were interviewed and later released on bail with conditions while enquiries continue
Three knives and a sizeable haul of Class A drugs were taken off the streets after officers acted on their instincts during a routine patrol in Radford.
Officers were travelling in a marked police vehicle along Birkin Avenue at around 12.40pm on Thursday (29 October) when they recognised a 17-year-old boy standing with two other individuals.
Checks revealed the teenager was wanted for breaching his bail conditions, prompting officers to stop and arrest him.
As the arrest was taking place, one of his associates remained at the scene while the other cycled away on a mountain bike.
Officers then discovered a knife sheath on the ground and carried out a search of the surrounding area.
During those enquiries, they recovered three knives, a significant quantity of Class A drugs believed to be heroin, and a large amount of cash.
The 17-year-old was subsequently arrested on suspicion of possessing a knife blade in a public place and possession with intent to supply a Class A drug.
The associate who remained at the scene – also aged 17 – was arrested on suspicion of the same offences, as was the third suspect, 22, after he was tracked down.
All three suspects were interviewed and later released on bail with conditions while enquiries continue.
Sergeant Lewis Bullmore, of the City Central Neighbourhood Policing Team, said:
"Thanks to the proactive work of our officers, three dangerous weapons and a significant quantity of Class A drugs have been removed from circulation.
