Police are investigating an altercation involving 'bladed weapons' outside a Sutton-in-Ashfield supermarket.

Officers were alerted to the scene on Priestsic Road outside Asda just before midnight, last night (Friday 13 March).

Reports describe a group of males wearing face coverings, although precise details remain unclear.

A 17-year-old boy and a 24-year-old man received non-life-threatening injuries to their arm and elbow, respectively.

They are receiving support, and no other injuries have been reported.

Detective Sergeant Adam Penn, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We are treating this incident seriously and a team of detectives is working hard to locate those involved.

“I would urge anyone who saw what happened or who may have any other information which could help us with our inquiries, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem, to please come forward and to speak to us.

“Similarly, we’d like to hear from anyone who may have recorded dashcam, CCTV, or mobile phone footage which may assist us with our ongoing inquiries.

"We fully understand how concerning this will be within the community, however I want to reassure people that at this stage we are currently treating this as an isolated incident.”

A police cordon is currently in place as the investigation continues.

Witnesses are being urged to contribute any details that could aid the investigation.
