A suspected motorcycle thief has been sniffed out of a garden shed by a police dog.

Officers were called to Wollaton Road, Lenton, shortly before 4am on Tuesday 23rd June after a motorcycle was stolen from a commercial premises.

A suspect later fled on foot from officers after he was seen pushing a motorcycle along Kennington Road.

PD Murillo was deployed on his tracking line to search the area and soon led his handler from the abandoned motorcycle to a nearby garden in Medway Street.

Moments later, he located a suspect in a garden shed.

The 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of theft and possessing a knife.

Sergeant Nick Dachtler, of Nottinghamshire Police's dog section, said:

"In situations like this, it can be very hard to locate suspects, who could be in any number of locations in the immediate area.

"Without the involvement of PD Murillo and his handler, it is possible that this suspect would have evaded officers on the ground, who don’t have the benefit of such an exceptional nose."
