A 21-year-old who posted a video on Snapchat after stealing a car has admitted to several criminal charges.
Liam Taylor, of no fixed abode, took a Toyota Aygo from outside a home in Swadlincote after breaking in to steal the keys.
The theft occurred in the early hours of 24th July when Taylor entered the house in Church Gresley.
A member of the public identified him through a video posted on Snapchat, which showed Taylor singing and rapping while driving the stolen vehicle.
Following this, Taylor crashed the car into a van on Bretby Road in Swadlincote, fleeing the scene before heading toward a nearby Sainsbury’s.
Police were later called to reports of someone knocking on doors in South Drive, where Taylor was discovered in a garden and arrested.
During his transport to custody, Taylor kicked out at officers repeatedly inside the police van.
Though he refused to be interviewed, Taylor was charged with various offences, including two counts of burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, driving without a licence and insurance, as well as assaulting a police officer.
Liam Taylor pleaded guilty to all charges during his appearance at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on 27th July.
He has been remanded in custody and is scheduled for sentencing at Derby Crown Court on 17th August.
