A devastating sheep attack has affected livestock in South Normanton, with Derbyshire rural crime team urging local residents for help.

The incident occurred in a field off Sporton Lane, before 11:20am on Saturday (7 February).

Four sheep were killed, with two others severely injured and needing to be put down.

An additional 20 sheep were injured, and more may succumb to their injuries.

CCTV footage or eyewitness reports may be crucial in identifying the responsible dog and owner.

Residents having seen a loose dog or heard shouting nearby are asked to call 101 or report online using the reference 26000075391.

The rural crime team advises that even well-behaved dogs can chase and kill livestock.

Police want to remind people that sheep worrying is a criminal offense with potential prosecution, fines, and civil claims for losses.

The public is urged to share any information to prevent further incidents.
