Six arrested in total after protest on building roof in Leicester

A further four people have been arrested after a protest on a building roof in Leicester.

Officers said they think protestors broke into a business premises on Meridian Way in Braunstone this morning. They were called at 3.10am on Friday 24th April.

Police were told protestors drove a van into a gate and were causing damage, after getting access to the roof.

Four people who were on the roof were arrested after negotiations and two men were arrested earlier at the scene.

These are the six total arrests in connection to the incident:

  • A 41-year-old man arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit criminal damage
  • A 28-year-old man arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage and assaulting an emergency worker
  • A 27-year-old man arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage
  • A 28-year-old man arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage
  • A 25-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage
  • A 31-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage

All six have also been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary.

Leicestershire Police said that Counter Terrorism Policing East Midlands were taking over the investigation.
