Police in Nottingham have been granted extra time to question a woman after an officer was shot.

He was injured on his foot after approaching two suspects at a bus stop on Angel Row at around 4:50am on Sunday (18 Oct).

That evening, police stopped a car in the Radford area and arrested three people, including a 27-year-old woman on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Nottingham Magistrates Court granted police extra time to detain and question her.

The car's two other occupants were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and have been released on conditional bail.

A 30-year-old man was also arrested on Bedfordshire on Monday morning on suspicion of assisting an offender. He has since been recalled to prison for breaching the terms of his licence.

Meanwhile, a fifth arrest was made on Tuesday (20 Oct) when a 21-year-old woman was detained in south-east London on suspicion of assisting an offender. She has also been released on bail.

The sixth arrest happened in Bulwell yesterday - a man was detained on suspicion of possession of a firearm with the intent to endanger life and assisting an offender.

A seventh person was arrested in Aspley yesterday evening and a 33-year-old woman is being questioned on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and assisting an offender.

They are both still in custody.

Detective Chief Superintendent Richard Bull, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

"The investigation team continues to work tirelessly to establish exactly what happened before, during and after this appalling incident. I would like to thank them, along with colleagues from other police forces, for their continued support and assistance.

"It remains crucial that anyone with information about this incident comes forward and speaks to us.

"The injured officer was carrying out his duty to protect the public and it is truly abhorrent that this has happened to him. We continue to support him as he undergoes further treatment in hospital and are keeping him and his family fully informed of developments in the investigation.

"We would also like to stress that the officer has requested privacy at this time, and we ask that the media respects that wish."

Witnesses can contact 101 and quote the incident number 106 of 18 October 2026.
